The most expensive coffee is “Kopi Luwak” or Civet Coffee. It’s a featured on a scene in the movie “The Bucket List” , starring Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman. You can see Jack drinking his “Kopi Luwak” – extolling the deliciousness of it. In the ending scenes Morgan Freeman tells Jack where those delicious coffee beans came from. Yes, it came from a cat’s ass.
“Kopi Luwak” – roasted coffee berries that have been eaten and digested by a civet cat. Here’s a more detailed explanation from Wikipedia.
Good Shepherd in Baguio City is a source for Civet coffee.
For 100 pesos- roughly 2-3 USD you can enjoy a cup.
Having tried this in all honesty – I prefer the regular dark brewed Batangas coffee or any dark roasted variant. There is a bit of a tangy taste to this drink that seems to stick to your upper palate. Being an avid coffee drinker I could tell that that there is something different. Civet Coffee is really expensive but if you happen to be in Baguio visit Good Shepherd and try the experience.
